The Vision

Many a time in the Bible, particularly in the Old Testament, we come across God speaking to His creation through the prophets, calling them to give ear to his words (Isaiah 1:2, 34:1; Jer 6:19, 22:29; Micah 1:2).  This was to let the people know His plans and purposes, or to bring them back from error or rebellion.  In the New Testament we hear Jesus repeatedly saying to the people “He who has ears, let him hear” (Mat 11:15, 13:9, 43; Mark 4:9, 23; Luk 8:8, 14:35). To the 7 churches in Asia, Jesus said, “He who has ears, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches” (Rev 2:7, 11, 17, 29, 3:6, 13, 22).  God’s desire is for His people to give heed to His words because they are life to them that find them.  He does not want anyone to perish, but for everyone to be saved (1 Tim 2:4).

When God called the prophet Ezekiel he made known to him that He had called him to be a watchman to the house of Israel (Eze 33:7).  Ezekiel was to hear the word of the Lord from His mouth, and he in turn was supposed to deliver the word to the people.  The call to heed the words of God from men like Ezekiel points to the ministry of a watchman.  This is exactly what Hear, O Earth! Missions is all about – the ministry of God’s watchmen.

We are to hear the word of the Lord from His mouth, and in turn deliver it to the people. This is not the time to speak what tickles the ears of the hearers; we must speak the pure, unadulterated word of God as he intended it. It’s not time to preach feel good messages to each other about perishable things, it’s time to know what the will of The Lord is and to pursue it.  Jesus Christ is coming back soon – Yes, soon, because that’s His testimony – and He wants His menservants and maidservants to prepare His bride, not to toy around with her.  He is expecting a church without spot nor wrinkle or any such thing, and those who have been sent must play their part faithfully.

The church must be reminded to look upwards again and see Jesus for who He really is, and what He expects from us, not just what we want from Him.  It’s time to seek those things which are above where Christ sits at the right hand of God, if indeed we claim that we have risen with Him (Col 3:1-2).  It’s time to shine the light on the great glory which awaits the saints at the revelation of Jesus Christ, which the faithful shall inherit.  It’s time to remind people that their labors in God will be greatly rewarded if done sorely for the love of Christ, not because we want to gain earthly things from them (which Jesus said will be added unto them if their love and ultimate desire is set on the kingdom of God – Mat 6:33).  It’s time to reignite the passion to share the good news with the lost, which is supreme in the heart of God for this particular dispensation.

Beloved of God, let us remove our eyes from the world’s attractions (temporary and perishable) wherewith the devil has us ensnared that we no longer see the glory of God in what He is about to accomplish in His saints; and look once again upwards to His throne – He is ready to show you the things that are most excellent in His sight; things that will bring a renewed divine purpose in your life; things that will make you accomplish your purpose on the Earth!
